An EU project administered Europe's long-running scheme supporting research networks. The work supported the programme's main management committee, and through that over 300 research projects, while promoting European research internationally.
Formed in 1971, the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) initiative is an intergovernmental framework fostering European research through the funding of research networking. While COST does not fund research directly, the networking is intended to develop capacity and assist early-stage researchers, and it increases research impact on policymakers.
