There are currently millions of HIV+ people across Europe, with an estimated 100 000 new infections in 2007 alone. EU funding has helped set up a large-scale international research network to address their needs.
The EU-funded EUROCOORD (European network of HIV/AIDS cohort studies to coordinate at European and international level clinical research on HIV/AIDS) project combines and strengthens existing HIV research networks. It aims to address key areas of HIV research geared towards improving the management and life of HIV-positive individuals.
