The Prize for Women Innovators aims to increase public attention to Europe's need of more innovators and it encourages well educate women researchers to exploit the commercial and business opportunities offered by their research projects, become entrepreneurs and therefore help to achieve the objectives of the Europe 2020 Strategy.
The European Commission will award up to three 'Prizes for Women Innovators.The prizes will not reward research or innovation proposed for the future, but results that have been already obtained. The prizes will be awarded to individuals who have brought about outstanding innovation.
Eligibility
The contestant must be a woman.
The contestant must be a resident of an EU Member State or a country associated to the Research Framework Programme.
The contestant must be the founder or co-founder of an existing and active company.
The company has been registered before 1 January 2011.
The annual turnover of the company was at least EUR 0.10 million in 2011 or 2012.
Either the candidate as a natural person or the company founded/co-founded by the candidate has received or is receiving EU funding from the European Union or the European Atomic Energy Community Research Framework Programme or from the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP).

Originality and marketability of the developed product or service provided by the company of the candidate
The Economic relevance for Europe
The Social relevance for Europe
High Scientific content of the innovation
Prizes
Three prizes will be awarded:
First prize: EUR 100.000
Second prize: EUR 50.000
Third prize: EUR 25.000
The three winners will be announced in spring 2014.
The deadline for applications: 15 October 2013 at 5.00 pm (CET).
