Treatments for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) can be ineffective due to issues such as resistance-development, severe side-effects and prolonged dosing schedules. Development of new drugs is a priority and the A-PARADDISE project has targeted parasite epigenetic processes to achieve this.
The A-PARADDISE project has provided data for the drug development pipeline for NTDs, in particular leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, malaria and schistosomiasis. These diseases infect millions of people globally and represent a major economic burden fuelled by associated poverty.
